I run a multi-faceted career as a choral fixer, senior leader, and choral consultant offering a variety of advisory services to choirs, and mezzo-soprano.

About

I approach every project with immense care and attention to detail. My considerable industry experience in management and performance ensures that the product and guidance I deliver fulfils the requirements of the artistic director and ensemble.

Ruth Kiang studied at the Universities of Durham and Cambridge, holding a Choral Scholarship at Trinity College, before starting her professional life as a singer in London in 2005.

During the height of the Pandemic, Ruth was approached and invited to start fixing a high-profile choral group.

She has since developed a broad portfolio of freelance fixing, establishing herself as one of the major choral fixers, fixing the Choir of the Academy of Ancient Music, The Hanover Band, London Early Opera, Polyphony, and Sonoro. In addition, she fixes on an ad-hoc basis for a wide variety of performances and recordings.

She has been Associate Director for Cambridge Handel Opera Company since 2024, leading the charity in its artistic strategy.

Advocation is at the forefront of all of Ruth’s work and in 2025 she became the Musician Union’s first Roving Steward for Choral Singers, ensuring that the industry promotes transparency, consistent fees reflecting industry standard, access, and a culture of meritocracy.

Ruth has established herself as a major presence in the choral industry, working as a senior leader, advocate, prominent choral fixer, consultant, and performer.
