Recording Guidance

I have recorded dozens of commercial professional CDs with Polyphony, Gabrieli Consort, Academy of Ancient Music, Sonoro, BBC Singers, and Dunedin Consort, amongst others, giving me significant shop-floor experience of what is required during recording sessions. 

Recording session time is very expensive for groups – imagine if you could hit the ground running at the start of the session, maximising this precious time. 

  • I can guide your choir through the entire recording process:

    • Offering an initial consultation to discuss your objectives.

    • Attending rehearsals to hear your choir and advise on recording venues, record producers and sound engineers to suit your group and budget.

    • Coaching your choir on how to use your recording time for maximum efficiency.

    • Providing accompanists, instrumentalists, and extra professional singers if there are gaps in your choir (due to illness, for example), ensuring that your project can go ahead as planned.

    • Managing all venue bookings and logistics, making the process as smooth as possible.

Audition Management

I have run multiple audition sessions for professional ensembles and can advise any group on how to set up and run auditions efficiently and effectively.

    • Sourcing a suitable accompanist

    • Logistics management (venue hire/communication with singers)

Fee Structure Reviews

I have carried out fee structure reviews for several choirs and can advise ensembles who are looking to restructure, reviewing groups’ budgets and current fee structures, and providing a detailed updated structure, ensuring that all fees are commensurate with industry standard.
